Map of New Mexico and the location of the units I hunt in. To help identify their locations  Datil and Pie Town are circled in red.

Driving directions from the Albuquerque airport.

    Start out going East on SUNPORT BLVD SE toward SUNPORT LOOP SE.<0.1 miles

    SUNPORT BLVD SE becomes SUNPORT LOOP SE. 0.7 miles

    Stay straight to go onto SUNPORT BLVD SE. 1.0 miles

    Merge onto I-25 S via the ramp- on the left- toward LAS CRUCES/BELEN. 71.6 miles

    Merge onto I-25 BL S/N CALIFORNIA ST/US-60 W via exit number 150 toward SOCORRO/MAGDALENA. 1.7 miles

    Turn RIGHT onto US-60/SPRING ST. Continue to follow US-60 W. 61.8 miles to Datil NM

For a $250 fee I can arrange round trip from and to the airport or you can rent a vehicle and drive to Datil. I will be available to meet you at a convenient place in Datil and then take you to our camp.

Unit Map

The units marked with a red star are primitive weapons only units. These units have never been hunted with a rifle. The units marked with a blue star are the rifle units I hunt in.

Equipment List

·         Hunting clothes, extra layers for warmth if needed. Orange is not required.

·         Extra socks

·         Gloves

·         Bedroll (if applicable)

·         Daypack

·         Water bottles

·         Flashlight

·         Binoculars (10x42 strength)

·         Personal Items

·         Rain Gear

·         Sunscreen

·         Camera/Film

·         Lightweight boots or hiking shoes (must be water proof)

·         Blister kit (if you get blisters)

Weather Conditions

·         During the September Archery Hunts the nights are cool (30-40 degrees) and the days are hot (60-70 degrees).

·         During the October Hunts the nights could freeze (20-30 degrees) and the days are warm. (60-low 70). Some snow or rain is possible, extreme weather or deep snow is unlikely.

·         In November through January the conditions are similar to October months, but there is a greater chance for some extreme weather condition.
